Even though these should be thrown out of Daddy's bathroom, how can I do such a thing to these marvelous concoctions that once served in long-ago battles against CUTS, GRIPPE, CLOGGED NOSTRILS, FOOT INFECTIONS, the "KIDNEY COLIC" and other miseries which led the young, ill boy to slump and ruminate, "Why is this happening to me?".

Most of the companies and brands shown here - Allied Drug Products in Chattanooga, CMC in Nashville, Dr. Fenner's and Dr. Thatcher's - register no hits on Google. They're long forgotten and apparently poorly represented on the Internet. So that they're not totally forgotten amongst the unlimitless ether, let's all lift up a tablespoon of Black Draught and have a toast to their spirits.

By the way, I think all of these items came right off the shelf of T.W. Jones General Merchandise!

This 1960's bottle of calamine lotion
has turned to cake.
We did not use it often, and I never thought
it worked well. I preferred "healing"
or antiseptic oil.

MUSTEROLE

Wasn't it always a kind motherly soul that
would
smear this stuff on your rasping chest,
then press a crinkly brown paper bag on said
chest, followed by the pajama shirt so that
you could sleep thru your cold in comfort?

I suppose TOZE worked, but I later found - courtesy of a Duke Hospital orthopedist - that a 10% solution of Clorox is better.

Then I've just read this: TOZE recommends that you first wash your feet before applying. Also, boil all clothes that come in contact with the affected area. "Boric acid dusted in each shoe daily..." Now I know where I went wrong.

Friends, d'you have itching, stinging and burning? How about the soreness from
heat rash, diaper rash, mosquito and
chigger bites? Does your girdle chafe?
