N. J.'s Poems for You

Picture Perfect

I see you with my third eye
A treasure no one on earth could buy.

I freeze any moment in the time and space
Capture your mood, anywhere, anyplace.

I hold your emotions in the palm of my hand
The way you eat, sleep, speak, and stand.

That curve of your cheek, the wave in your hand
The way you smile, cry, and laugh without care.

That look on your face when you see the sun rise
The way the light plays with your doe-like eyes.

I feel everything in you with my third eye
You are my treasure no one on earth can buy.

Time again…

Read me a story
I hear you say
Not now I’m busy
Maybe later today

Come out and play
You beg and cry
Not now I told you
Company is coming by

I won a science award
Will you come and see
Not today I said
My boss really needs me

I’m leaving for college now
Are you going to see me off
I can’t today I sat
I’m due on the course for golf

I want you to come home soon
Just to talk and visit I say
You tell me I’m too busy
Not right now, not today

My Son

You don’t understand
You’ll never know
And I can’t explain it
Why I let you go.

True you were a gift
Of a very special kind
And I wanted you more than anything
But was forced to change my mind.

Keeping you would have made
Me happy, to others it was quite odd
Believe me I wanted to save your life
But gave you back to God.

I hope your soul found
A much more beautiful place to stay
I’ll never forget you my son
The one I gave away.
