November's Poems from N. J.

My Instructions

Have no funeral when it's
My time to say goodbye
shed few tears
I wish no one to cry.

Celebrate instead the
life that was me
laugh, tell jokes
be happy, i'm free.

I will have joined an energy
that is no longer bound
to the restrictions of sky
substance and ground.

I have become part of
everything that your eyes can see
each crepe myrtle flower
every pinecone seed.

You can still feel me
like a kiss on your face
I exist now in all time
all lmatter every place.

So, this party's on me
everyone light up the town
just don't forget in your celebrating
to leave me a drink on the ground.

For My Sister...

My dearest and loving sister
So much I want to say
If time would permit me
Would take more than a day.

So much joy does it bring me
Just to hear your voice
I value your every opinion even
When you give me no choice.

You live each day with such passion
It must be exhausting sometimes
I like to see you toss up the world
Spin, and catch it on a dime.

Ageless though we are forever
I’ve watched you into a woman grow
With strength, in love, and in knowledge
From that little girl I used to know.

But home is where your heart is Laverne
No matter what you do
Always you are our daddy’s little girl and
My favorite sister………I love you.

Mickey and Me

Silver gray hair
Twisted in curls
Cold wet nose
Red tongue unfurls
Giving me kisses
On my unshaven face
Begging me not
To leave in haste.

Sitting in my lap
Staring at me
I know you want something
What could it be?
A treat? No.
Play? No.
Want to go out?
Jump and wag
What little tail you
Have all about.

Ok let’s go for a ride
Just you and me
Down south to my river
See what we can see.
Off we go down the highway
Me and my best friend
My four legged travel partner
On the road again.
